Lamb also shows Baz how to eat without his fangs falling out. They meet again and turns out the Next Blood (or the NowNext?) have been trying to get this genetic mutation for magic to work for on vampires. Lamb questions who he is and Baz finally reveals the truth and asks to know more about the Next Blood. He’s approached by Lamb who takes him outside and makes him drink from a human. Baz pretends to be one of the old vampires and goes to the club. Shepard tells Baz that vampires don’t suck people dry or enough to make them turn but only take a bit. Shepard catches up to them and they go to Las Vegas which is overrun by vampires. Penny gets really concerned and they decide to learn more about them. But he follows them anyway.Īgatha leaves a scary voicemail about the Next Blood or something. Simon, Baz and Penny leave Shepard there and do enough magic on him to make him forget. They go to a hotel room and rest for the night. They’re attacked by these magical creatures and Shepard saves them. It’s a boy named Shepard who loves all things magical and knows a lot about it. They end up in a Dead Spot (where their magic doesn’t work) and confront the follower. They go to a Renaissance fair and attack some vampires. Agatha meets Braden, the owner, who takes a liking to Agatha. Meanwhile, Agatha is with her friend Ginger at this retreat with super-elite people. He’s got another girlfriend and had apparently broken up with Penny (or tried to) a long time ago. They stop at Micah’s–Penny’s boyfriend–house first. They reluctantly go, magicking some tickets. Penny hasn’t been receiving messages from Agatha so she proposes a trip to the States. He’s been kind of depressed since losing his magic.

They’re all about twenty in this book and studying at uni, having finished with Watford.

The book starts with Baz and Penny being worried about Simon. Stuff happens and they’re caught in another life-or-death adventure. Simon, Baz and Penny go to the States for a holiday.
